What is EFT ‘tapping’
EFT is an alternative treatment for many things, physical pain, emotional stress, grief, trauma, phobia’s and many other issues that are causing your energy system to be ‘stuck’
We tap on certain points that align with your meridian system-which is a network of energy flowing through the body- it has been likened to acupuncture without any needles.
Tapping is believed to access your amygdala which is responsible for our emotions, memory, stress and our survival instincts.
It was created by Gary Craig out of a technique called Thought Field Therapy.
The first controlled and published study took place in 2003 by Waite WL & Holder.
Evidence based therapies are accepted by professional institutions as they have scientific evidence to support its efficacy.
It has been researched in more than 10 countries by more than 60 investigators who’s results have been published in more that 20 different peer reviewed journals.
I am not going to go into too much science as it blows my mind and I am not an academic person, and I have seen with my own eyes and my own experience that it works.
But in the UK the National Institute of Clinical Evidence were impressed enough to recommend further research in the effectiveness of EFT comparing it to EMDR for post-traumatic stress.
EFT is a very gentle therapy, don’t worry about things coming up that you can’t handle as our body has a very good protective system- as in if your subconscious is not ready to let it go it won’t.
It works on the premise that negative emotions are caused by a disturbance in our energy system, so we address these things while tapping and concentrating on the specifics where possible, this will enable those negative emotions to dissipate
We move at your pace and deal with each issue in your own time, sometimes it can happen quite quickly and other times we will need to take our time and be patient.
The joy of EFT is that this is a tool that you can take away from the session to work with at home in your own time and when you need it –ie: if your anxious about something.
